Growing Up
In kindergarten
I talked nonstop,
and cried over a blue crayon
or what flavor of milk I got.
In middle school
I was loud and outgoing.
Messy
and careless.
All I wanted to do was grow up.
And quickly, I did.
But it was not as expected.
I only spoke when needed.
I cried over grades.
And eventually,
I lost it.
The innocence.
The happiness.
Sometimes I imagine my younger self.
She would never recognize me.
But that's just what happens when we grow up.
