The Dancer
Practice every night, I need to get this right
I need more power, more grace, feet pointed, legs straight
Use my core and straighten my supporting leg
Fly like a gazelle be as fierce as a lioness
Hours spent slicking my hair and getting my makeup just right, at the peak of dawn
My spot fast, my legs straight, my smile proud
I glide across the competition stage, two-thousand people watching, maybe even more
Dead silence then cheers as I take long look at the crown then bow
On stage lights bright I finish after daylight

Dancing and reading are my favorite passions. My dancing experiences inspired me to write this poem. I have been competing in multiple dance genres since I was 6, and I would love to go to college and become a professional dancer.
