My Name Piece
God is gracious. That is what my name means. Sean comes from John. John comes from Yahweh. And Yahweh comes from Hebrew. Yahweh is gracious.
My name is green like the letter seven or a green field of grass. Lucky. It sounds like rustling leaves in the wind. An old farmhouse that has since been taken over by nature. Covered in moss. Half the walls are torn down. That is what my name sounds like. Calm but empty, not in a bad way. It just is.
I think my parents chose the name simply because they liked it. Why not Shawn or Shaun? I’m not sure.
My brother Luke. He always got “like Luke Skywalker?” while I got “like Shawn Mendes?” or “like Shaun the sheep?”. At least it’s actually his name. There’s not many iconic characters or famous people named Sean
It’s not even an uncommon name but at least a half the people I meet get it wrong.Sheen, Seen, Shane, Se-ann, Syang and somehow Sjårn. I have to remind people it’s Sean, “S-e-a-n” not Shawn or Shaun.
Not everyone thinks to say my name the same way and not everyone sees me the same way. I act differently for everyone. Every little friend group I have I act differently. No one from group 1 sees me the same as anyone from group two.
