Words, words, words

Words, words, words,

So many yet I use barely any

Words, words, words

What do they convey?

Perhaps they're about someone

Maybe a bird flying free

Or the most beautiful face you've ever seen.

Sometimes I do not listen to these words

But that does not mean I lack the skill

Sometimes they sound like a bird's squawking bill

But other times they sound as sweet as honey

These words I find almost funny

Yet I cease to laugh and hold in my joy

For sometimes others think there are things I shouldn't deploy.

Words, words, words

What can they do?

They can harm others

But I choose not that to do

Instead, I choose my way of things

And my way I think deserves some praise

I know others that use words to hurt

And to that, I say why?

Do you gain happiness?

Does it make your day?

Tell me hurtful words

What do you say?

Now you probably aren't one of the rude words

But I'm sure you've said something you regret

Words you wish you could take back

But they stick

And you can't get rid of them

Some rude words are used against you

And maybe you don't think that's fair

But you are the one who said the rude words

Actions have words too

Like a husband and wife's affair

Someone who likes to share

And perhaps you weren't aware

And that is quite rare

But what words do you use in your actions

Are they kind?

Are they rude?

Ask yourself what you do

Words can describe

Which words would you use

To describe how you're feeling

Perhaps you are feeling sad

Maybe mad

But those are the little words

To get your point across

You would use the big words

Frustrated, agitated, perturbed

Meloncaley, gloom, misery

These words are used barely any

Yet you have room for plenty

You've come to the end of the words

You ran out

But do not pout

The end could not be farther

So being distressed is just a bother

Remember to use your big words in times of need

And never forget how much words

Can help you succeed

I wrote this for a reading assignment where we had to talk about something important to me, and what's more important than the words I use every day.
