With you,

I never fell in love -

I never tripped

and tumbled.

I never slipped

from push or shove -

forever stripped

and humbled.

I never flipped

from peels of fruit -

as if by script

I stumbled

Or ever felt

my balance skew

as Earth had ripped

and rumbled.

I walked in love

feet after feet

like birds

above a rope.

I never rode

a downward street

but swerved

an upward slope

And every step

my shoes complete

leave prints

of hinting hope.

My love for you

is sound and sweet

yet free

from every trope

For love is not

a single wave

that swallows soul

at once

But love is all

the drops of rain

that fall at hold

of tongue

And love will soak

like changing days -

it bends

you one by one

(You never hope

to turn away

to when

the love was young)

And love is not

the first of sight

but endless sights

of seeing

And love is not

to be or been -

but active state

of being

Nor is it

a place or space

or thought or thing

or feeling -

Love is call

of all at once -

I feel

its every beating
