The Next Adventure
For the next chapter of my life, I would feel many different emotions. Growing up in the small, silent, sanctuary Hartland area I had all of my family very close by. Going from my small Stone Bank elementary school to Arrowhead high school was a bit of change. With my graduating class being 30 kids and everyone being in one big friend group and knowing almost everything about one another to transition into high school where you see almost new kids every day. Going through high school I’ve had almost the same friend group, a few new friends here and there, and a few falling outs with people, but growing up brings so many new adventures and exploring different friendships. Being a senior next year and having to think about college and how you want to spend the rest of your life can be quite overwhelming. The pressure of picking the right school, the pressure of making your family proud, and the pressure of making yourself successful for the future. All these things have run through my head a lot while going on college tours and picking a career that I enjoy and will be content with for quite some time. Moved away from my safe place, my friends, and family, and begin to live on my own. Having the responsibility of making good decisions and accepting the consequences that come with it. As nervous as I am about the future im equally excited. Picturing all the adventures I will be able to experience. The new friends that I meet along the way will likely turn into lifelong friendships. Being able to be more independent and make decisions that will make me a better person in the coming years. Becoming a part of a new community, where I can push restart a bit. Still having some of the comforts as high school provided: sports games, spirit weeks, and the stressful project due dates. The chapter of my life after college may be a bit more haunting. Begging to find a “big girl” job where you will meet people with your same interests and goals in life. Traveling around the world and experiencing all the fun adventures you dreamt of doing when you were a little kid. Finding someone who you want to spend the rest of your life with and begging to start a family. Building your dream home that you have been saving pictures of what you like on your Pinterest board since you were in middle school. The years run by with a blink of an eye.
