what ever happend to (slam poem)
Whatever happened to my childhood??
The stuffed animals, playing barbies with your sister, and playing dress up. Whatever happened to the innocence a young child had that is now drifted off into a blank room stuffed away, just like all your old toys. Whatever happened to when life was so easy, and now we're learning and being set off to live our own life.
What happened to the little girl? The biggest problem is if mom wouldn't let her watch her favorite show because it was bedtime. And now I'm already putting my life together like the puzzle pieces I used to play with when I was 5 years old.
The old memories with your parents where you begged and begged them to play toy dolls with you for hours. And when they said no you felt like air was going out, when now when you are figuring out your own life… It's like a blank space of thought figuring out where you want to go for your future.
What happened to the birthday parties where you would be the one to lick off the frosting to the lite candle. When now birthdays are either a surprise or it takes energy to act in it.
The pretty dress up dresses then turn into prom dresses, and then into work attire.
Why did life have to change?
Why does life have to be an overgoing circle?
You just become born, become a young child, and age and age.
Why does life get so hard? Why do we need to get a job? Why do we need to age? After all we are on this floating rock waiting for the next action to occur so our life keeps going on.
Childhood. So simple. So delicate. So fragile. But that's the way life goes. Things go away and you need to grow and get stronger. And then it happens. Childhood disappears before you even realize.
Now those stuffed animals and toys are simply passed on to generations. Waiting again to be played with. Because our time is now done. Adulthood.
