Low Battery
~Low Battery~
“My battery is low
And it’s getting dark.”
Your final message lit
Quite the spark.
The day you were launched
Gave all of us hope,
But that dust storm
Was thick as smoke.
We all miss you and
Spirit is now alone.
Even after 90 days
You never came home.
You were a good girl,
As we all know.
If only you had lasted
And your battery wasn’t so low.
We thought all you had
Was a mere 90 days,
But you lasted 15 years
And set the world ablaze.
You taught us so much
I just want you to know,
You went places nobody
Else would dare go.
You will always be loved
Forever in my heart,
No matter how big
You will always be a part.
“My battery is low
And it’s getting dark.”
Your last transmission
Really did leave a mark.
