What I want to become in the future
This essay is gonna be about what I want to be in the future after high-school. When I was a little girl I always had a dream of becoming a Veterinarian but when I started to grow up I was always told that it takes a lot of school. Yet, even when I was little I loved animals and being around them that is kinda why I wanted to be one in the first place and it still is to this day. Through-out highschool I found out a lot about what it is gonna take in order to become a vet and what you need to know beforehand. The things that you are gonna need that I found out include a doctor of veterinary medicine ( DVM or VMD) degree or even a bachelor’s.
According to the state of Texas in order to become a vet you have to graduate and pass the North American Veterinary Licensing Exam and the State Board Examination. Yet, the skills that you are needing to learn or have in order to become a vet are for example compassion, communication skills, decision making, and lastly problem -solving skills. Some other skills that I have learned along the way include attention to detail, physical strength, and lastly having technical and scientific aptitude skills that includes using machinery to interpret information. Another thing that I have learned growing up is that there are different types of vets and they are companion-animal vets, veterinary specialist, food-animal vets, food safety and inspection vets, and lastly research vets.
I have learned so much that can help me in the future and a lot of it I have learned from when I was still in school. And I am still learning to this day about what I need to know before I officially start to become a vet. I mean I always thought that becoming a vet you would just treat animals but over time I have learned that they do way more than that. For example they examine and diagnose health problems, treat wounds, perform surgeries, vaccinate or test for diseases, operate using x-rays or medical equipment, prescribe medications, etc. They do a whole lot more than I could have ever thought but they are doing it to protect the animal and to make sure that the animal is okay.
Yet, I have learned that there are vets who travel to farms ,etc in order to treat big animals like for example cattle, horses, etc. And then you have the vets who treat the little animals like for example cats, dogs, lizards, rabbits, snakes, etc. It doesn't matter the size a vet will treat any size and do whatever it takes to make sure that the animal is okay. Now you may be wondering why you would want to go to school for 7 to 9 years of school for your career. And to answer your question, I know that it won’t be easy and I know that it requires a demanding education but if you really want to succeed then you have to give it your all.
Now to every career it has its pros and cons there is no perfect job but if you like doing it then that is all that matters. But in my opinion becoming a vet would be a good thing because I love animals but I am scared of a few if i'm being honest. Yet, I can overcome my fears if I need to in order to help an animal. There are things that by becoming a veterinarian it could help you and your community if you let it. Like for example just by becoming a vet it could help form a relationship with your community, or to help improve animal care. Being a vet could help you to know what could be wrong with an animal with or without using mechanical equipment.
You never know when you may need to save an animal 's life and it could help you in the long run.
