A day at the ball field
The gray clouds fly high in the sky, I can feel the breeze slightly on my neck. I always feel at home when I stand in the batter's box. The sound of cheering parents and the chanting of my teammates. An aroma of popcorn and sunflower seeds filled the air. As I'm standing there I hear the umpire yell “STRIKE!”, my eyes widened in shock. The pitcher then throws another pitch coming straight down the middle , I swing and I hit it. When I hit the ball you could hear the ding as I felt a vibration in my bat. It hit dead center, the center fielder was nowhere to be found, she was in her own world. That’s when I knew I could make it to at least second base but I ran to first and rounded the corner. I hear everyone screaming, “Go , keep running”. I am rounding the corner of third base and the other team just keeps throwing the ball around. The ball somehow ends up in left field, so I run my fastest, coming into home base I see the ball come flying at the hind catcher and in that moment I slide, hoping and praying that my foot would touch the base. I look down and I make it. All I can hear is screaming and chanting, my mom comes up to me after the game and lays her hand on my shoulder and says, “I am so proud of you, I love you”.
