Strangers Dancing
Strangers dancing in the dark
Dark as midnight’s moon
Moon with light shining down to the strangers below
Below, where they sway to the music’s tune
Strangers dancing beneath the stars
Stars shine also in their eyes
Eyes that know each other not
Not to shame, however, they dance ‘till the moonlight dies
Strangers dancing under the willows
Willows tall and beautiful
Beautiful as the strangers dancing
Dancing, hand in hand, on a night so wonderful
Strangers dancing as nightingales sing
Sing a ballad to the people down below
Below, in the grass where no one is around
Around to hear the melodies grow
Strangers dancing ‘till the sun sadly rises
Rises to end their beautiful dancing
Dancing in the moonlight
Moonlight so enchanting
Strangers dancing as love surrounds
Surrounds them completely and binds
Binds them together, together as one
One night beneath the moon, they dance together, blind
Strangers dancing in the dark
Dark is bright as day
Day that brings a new beginning
Beginning of a new night, the strangers sway

I write most of my poetry at night, and this piece was sort of just a formulation of my thoughts at the time. I visualized a scene beneath the beautiful moon and I started writing. Nighttime is always the best time to write!
