With the new wave of technology and our life experiences with a global shut down—our society has had lots of time to ourselves.

Many people struggled with their mental state during these tough times, myself included. So, recently, I decided to read The Mental Game of Baseball by H.A. Dorfman and Karl Kuehl to learn more strategies on how baseball players have learned to cope with stress throughout and after their careers. I also wanted to apply these strategies to my baseball career.

While reading this book, I soon realized that not only do these strategies work in baseball, but in daily life as well. I have applied strategies like breathing and self-talk to my baseball game and  in my school life as well. The real life examples and situations that the authors show in this book really helped me learn how to apply the strategies to my life.

This style of writing allows me to keep reading and want to learn more about how I can make myself better at not only baseball but life in general. Each chapter in this book is structured by a certain strategy that baseball players have used and continue to use in their baseball careers. All of the chapters in this book are related to baseball and use examples in the baseball world.  The way that Dorfman writes is by telling us the strategies and then showing us how people in the real world have used them and how they have worked.

In the end I really like this book because it can be applied in my life everyday. This book I think has some really good strategies for everyone, but if you don’t like baseball or don’t get the game I don’t think this book is for you.
