Watching the Rain
I love to watch the rain. The way
it kisses the wet cement as it reaches the
end of its long journey from above. I love
the company it keeps. Its friend, thunder,
with a booming voice, yelling throughout
the storm. Its shy friend, lightning, who’s
gone before you even have a chance to say
“hello”. I love the peace it brings. Sitting
and watching as the wind whispers and
whirls through the nearby trees.

This is a piece I wrote for a poetry project. I was inspired by a thunderstorm that had happened the day before. Watching the rain is something I've done for years with my family and by myself. Writing this piece was a great way for me to express my love for the rain and the peace it brings me.
