They broke
A watch is like a shirt
A shirt can grow old and wear out
A watch can stop working or break
The watch my grandfather wore, it broke
A day of hard work, the very first day
A brand new shirt to fit in
And right after the first paycheck
A brand new watch to reward himself
And still working 20 years later
An old shirt to remember
And an old watch to tell how much time passed by
The shirt and watch are not the only ones aging
The one I called grandpa
Laid back on his last destination
The watch broke, the shirt torn
My grandpa swollen
He broke in the end as well

My grandfather died from Type 2 Diabetes. The last time I saw him he was swollen because his blood circulation was cut off. The two things they buried him with were his watch and his very first employee shirt. They were his most prized posession and over time everything had aged along with him till the very end. Im sure he was very happy to have been buried with the things that started his whole new life, the very things that represented his new beginning.
