The Distance

The empty spaces where your presence used to be

Joyful, exciting times now turned into quiet memories

I run to these spaces, trying to cling onto any part of you

Yet I fall, the loneliness has consumed me once again

The wetness on my cheeks slowly begin to dry

It is said distance makes the heart grow fonder

The challenges we take we take them together

There isn’t anything as a pair that we couldn’t conquer

Everytime the phone screen lights up

It feels as though the ghost of you surrounds me

The comfort, warmth, and the love I long for

Consumes my body wholly

The countdown of the days, the waiting wears at my soul

The days go by much slower than they did before

Yet I keep pushing through

The yearning of your presence keeps me fighting for more

The loneliness sometimes feels too hard to bear

Never will I forget we live under the same stars

To remind myself that you are always there

Until we meet again
