She Looked Happy
She looked happy.
The photo filled me with a sense of wistfulness,
Seeing a time when I thought the sky was limitless.
She looked like she was full of life.
Oh, how I long to go back to that day,
Now all I have is a life left in disarray.
I look in the mirror and compare what I once was to what I am now.
Somehow less than I was before,
All my thoughts left as a buzzing roar.
The photo of my younger self held a childlike wonder,
Wanting to go out into the world and be something,
But all I was left with was nothing.
