Women
In this world women are nothing more than art
Nothing more than something to stare at and admire upon
But we’re more than that
We’re born like men, we go to school like men, we work like men
We do the same things that men do and yet somehow they’re superior
Somehow we’re not as important in society’s eyes
Women are here to cook and clean, to produce children for men and nothing else
Women can do anything that men can if not better
Has society learned nothing from some of the great women like Rosa Parks, Catherine the Great, Malala Yousafzai, and Amelia Earhart?
This country, no world, needs to realize that this sexism isn’t excepted and that the only reason men are “superior” is because those same men are just insecure and scared that some woman/en will come and prove them wrong
Nothing in this world has come easy for anyone but straight white men and that's not fair
So make it right

I chose to write this because society is a very important part of a teenagers life escpecially in this generation. It's where you'll get the cruelest and harshest feedback you'll ever recieve, it's where you'll potentially fall inlove just to end up heartbroken, it's where you'll get judged based on grades and extracuriccular activities, it's where you'll get judged for being you. In this poem specifically, it's about womens roles in society and how we're treated. I'm not saying that anyother gender or race or ethnicity in the world doesn't get hated on in by society, I just simply chose to write about women because seeing as I am one I feel like I had more of an input on this topic than others.
