A Thousand Miles
Life is too short to remorse it,
A thousand new beginnings a day
We all have a choice for starts and ends,
as we make through a way.
I glance down the memory lane,
A thousand new puzzles to crack.
A friend by the side and a foe behind,
Remind me of my track.
I stop for the night at an inn,
A thousand new revelations arise.
The door of opportunity opens for me,
And has a clear sight through my lies.
The next morning arrives fresh and early,
A thousand steps forward to take.
A sigh leaves my lips as i look around,
And remember the choices to make.
Too many thoughts engulf me,
A thousand words waiting to be said.
Who would have thought a mere mortal,
Would complete the herculean tasks instead?
The stars and the clouds collide,
Just like silver and gold.
A thousand fading scars glow,
Illuminating the broken souls.

This piece was authored to capture the intricacies and complexities of the long arduous journey we have all embarked on- Life. It is full of philosophical truths that we often see but fail to register. The poem is built based on how we as humans need to persevere, gain confidence and look our troubles right in the eye and there is nothing a mortal cannot conquer. In the end, the sense of accomplishment and the feeling of success is the greatest gift handed to us.
