Snowflake Obsidian
The guillotine is no use when handling black smoke,
All it snaps is thin air,
Scattering the pieces, as if it was never there.
Sharp like a bully's words, it glints in the sunshine,
Bragging it's ignorance trophy won by idiocy.
Chomping at the bit, life is nothing but unfair,
Ropes have to hold me back,
There's only one weapon I have,
And it's much more powerful than an old-fashioned noose,
Good thing it's in profuse.
Throats squeeze shut when stepping out to gain vitamin D,
Droplets of blood run down the wall,
I'm about to fall into the abyss of fire the bible calls hell.
I swallow some spit with some sunflower shells,
Look around, knowing the world has never felt so unwell.
It's going to vomit in our faces,
Now we're feeling the acid burn the flesh off our weak bodies,
"Wish you could feel what you say,"
Don't be so stupid,
Nature has already felt what they couldn't pay.
Coins rattling in his pocket,
Hands stick up her pants,
That's the leader we've listened to,
All of his rants,
Make me feel so vertigo,
Eyes all around me as nonchalant as the extinct species in the strata.
No one points finger to where I should go.
No one nods along to my pleas for the future.
Seeming just me in the game,
Everyone else on the bleachers.
They tell me the show must go on,
But they also wish me to break a leg.
Don't they know I can't juggle bananas and apples when they're both rotting out?
Don't they know there's no planet B after all we've shout?
Don't they know hard science is all we've been talking about?
Holding the reins of terror is a dream never come true,
I just want somewhere to be there when I step off this dirt trail.
I don't want to quail in my boots cause I know the home team's gonna lose.
I want to control where people sink their teeth,
Cause I know the wrong pencils are signing wrong laws,
Cause I know humanity is the scariest thing since Jaws.
Words stream live off the internet,
I can't quite believe my eyes;
Lie after lie is what's in the news.
My sockets aren't empty like theirs are.
My neurons aren't dead like they want them to be,
I've got the hope and courage and love they cast away in the war they forgot they were supposed to fight in.
I've got the things they want but can't have.
I've got the lessons from history they've pushed out with conspiracies.
I'm the one not waiting for their "making decisions" in a soundproof booth.
I don't know everything, but I know the truth.

This piece is mostly about the environmental crisis, but want I really want you to know is that Snowflake Obsidian is a crystal that is supposed to tell you the truth in any situation. I wear it around my neck. Always.
