Ode to Immortality
Everyone wants to be you, Immortality.
We walk the earth obsessing over our last step.
We never want to live without our loved ones,
You seem like an escape from that.
But what do you do when you’re alone?
Nobody else sees so many lifetimes,
Soon your friends will fade into memory.
Do you recreate yourself with every
Generation- or do you lose yourself
To the grief of starting anew?
How lonely is it, Immorality?
Your mind is your Achilles’ heel,
Ever vulnerable with each passing moment.
Death walks the earth with friends
But you have no one.

I am submitting this for a creative writing class. I don't know why the Teen Ink images are so specific.
