An Ode to the Mind
The Mind is called whole
Unbeknownst to the eyes of her inhibitor
Her breath reeks of the poison we seep into her skin
Our thick blood flows into the pools of her eyes
Exterminating the golden jewels of life below
We cut her hair like colonizers telling her vast forests to change
To adapt to what we want when it was hers first
The anger we spit back at her
Yelling at her like a disobedient pet
When in reality it was, she who feeds us from her stomach when we were hungry
It was she that sheltered us when we felt cold and abandoned
It was she who loved us when we felt lonely and without purpose
It was she who filled us with hope when we felt hopeless
It was she who cared
I ask you how can something be whole when it is so broken
How can someone hurt so badly but continue to fly
How can someone struggle so much but continue to live
The same way we do every day
We continue to live when we feel broken
We continue to try even when it feels hopeless
We carry on
End the hatred you project
End the murder of your spirit
End the elimination of hope
And start the
Possibility for love
Chance for desire
Likelihood of self-acceptance
