He gave us deep oceans and lots of land,

Tall mountain ranges and beaches with sand,

A large gift that we should love and respect,

One we forget our decisions affect.

The temperature is rising,

This news should not be surprising.

We damage the earth day after day,

Sometimes can't be bothered to throw trash away.

The earth can’t take more of this abuse,

We have to find ways to simply reduce,

We don’t have a backup planet,

What we have will have to manage.

When are we going to try environmentalism,

It’s time to value the earth over capitalism.

The author's comments:

I wrote this poem to promote environmentalsim. A lot of people still do not know all of the struggles the earth is facing and I hope this poem may encourage people to research these issues.
