View of a Laptop
As the day starts I sit on top of papers and textbooks in complete darkness.
I sit quietly with my friend who is connected to me like glue.
I wait and wait until the annoying noise that comes on every day at six in the morning.
I wish I could do something to stop that noise.
As I see my owner slowly wake up, I get ready to start the day.
I wait while my owner gets dressed so we can go out.
My owner unplugs my friend and grabs me.
Puts me into a sleeve in his black backpack that he carries with him.
As my owner zips up the zipper I say my final goodbye to the light.
I patiently wait in darkness until my owner has reached his destination.
As time passes I hear a zipper open and then a giant hand coming towards me.
I’m finally free and I say hello to the outside world.
As my owner opens me up and logs into his classes.
I can feel him typing away on my keys and clicking on my touchpad.
But this experience only lasts about forty minutes.
Until I am once again put back into the sleeve of darkness.
And then back to square one.
The trip isn’t long until I am again reunited with the outside.
