The Most Festive Tuesday of the Year
The most festive Tuesday of the year
Especially living down here.
New Orleans folks
Walking under the big oaks,
And standing by the street.
Moms yelling, “Don’t step off the concrete.”
Double deckers riding by
Did you see that one guy?
Riders on the float tossing beads
The people cheering their pleas.
Everyone is eating king cake
It is so much fun to partake.
That orange box sitting on the table
Eating a piece of chicken if you’re able.
The day is a lot of fun
Especially standing under the warm sun.
Foreigners don't understand
Until they step in our land.
Mardi Gras is a treasured holiday
That in New Orleans we go all the way!
