A PICTURE
A picture holds a thousand words
Is a very big understatement
At least for those who were there.
It holds a moment frozen in time,
Where the idea in everyone's mind
Is captured in a moment's image.
A freeze in time
Where those photographed
Are documented,
In that second.
Where they stood
In what they wore
After and before what else happened
On that day.
Pictures are memories
Simply mirroring images
Creating a stricken-down version.
Capturing the whole scene
With the smiles of those there
Others with tears.
But there you are,
Shining as you always had
Standing in the back
Smiling away.
Seeing you stand there drove my heart insane.
The lack of captured memories,
Snapshots in time
I have of you scares me
Because that was your role.
