An Old Challenger
I glare up at my opponent set before me; he glares back.
As he moves, I prepare to be hurled straight up in the air.
He smiles, proud. I guess my grandpa can still pick me up after all.

Ever since my grandfather passed last December, childhood memories that I have with him have been floating around my head. I wanted to get them out somehow while also still doing it in his honor. So, I wrote this poem to honor those small, yet incredibly meaningful childhood moments you cherish only after a loved one is gone.
