Red Poppies of Love

Walking through the cold mist air
Seeing poppies everywhere
Can I shed a tear or so?
Fuming anger lit below

Falling down with shivering hands
Touch the grave with lonely commands
Salty tears gliding down
Plopping on the precious crown.

I look around to see the mist
Floating around as they slowly drift
The sun hides with dark around
Sadness, anger, and joy is drowned

Small red poppies round and round
Sorrow as “sweet” as sugar plums
Buried deep below the ground
Waiting for tomorrow to come.

The author's comments:

Someone may have somebody close to someone's heart suddenly disappear from their lives. And it may leave us devastated. And this is exactly what happened to this person in my poem.

You may ask, "Why are you saying sorrow is sweet?"
The answer is that in the Romeo and Juliet play when Juliet is kissing Romeo good night, "Their sorrowful parting is also “sweet” because it makes them think about the next time they will see each other." So I thought this could be a great allusion :)

The picture has nothing to do with the poem and poppies because I couldn't really find anything related to Red Poppies except a cat near some flowers with looked like poppies but I didn't want the cat to be there, so I chose some peaceful white flowers.
