Why To You
I got out of the car to help my mom with the bags
Walking to the house, I see the man that circled around it every day
He paused when I walked by, and told me news without a lag
It left me without a single thing to say
I turned and simply started to cry, or scream
My mom ran over, scared and confused
I had lost the only other person on my team
The man stood there, looking almost amused
Looking back I don’t know why he would even tell me
I was so young and just wanted to put it all on pause
Me and my mom rushed to the hospital quickly
Oh if only it was as real as Santa Claus
There layed my step dad, with wires all around
I began to cry for the second time
“I’m ok,” he said, but without a sound
Something like this should have been a crime
Why to you? I wanted to know
You were so kind and all I needed
Such a good person, why did you go?
These questions left me defeated
There was no reason for it to be you
My mom and I looked at you with sorrow
How I wish it was back to just us two
Maybe I’ll return to you tomorrow
