Name Essay
My name has a religious background meaning lover of churches. Which is why my parents named me Calahan. Both are lovers of churches and very strong religions. it represents their beliefs and how they would raise me. A strong catholic. Following in their footsteps.
Calahan. Only people that I am close with call me by my full name. Most people just call me Cal. Cal is boring and easy. But Calahan really describes who I am. Calahan sounds mature and responsible. I don’t know anyone else with the name Calahan; it separates me from everyone else.
My name reminds me of a light blue, like the sky with a few clouds. The sun is shining brightly and bringing joy to everything and everyone. The sound of children laughing and playing at the pool party. The smell of the hamburgers being cooked on the charcoal grill.
The memories as a young kid of playing outside all day long without having a worry in the world. Positive, outgoing, energetic, and happy. Until the rain comes.
A long and strong downpour. Dark rain clouds that quickly sadden you. It makes you go inside and have nothing to do. Yet, you feel calm watching the rain fall.
Until the rain comes. A deep, dark ocean. Deep and lost in my thoughts. Far away from everything else. Peaceful and focused. Waiting for the storm to end so the waves die down and it becomes peaceful again.
I like my name. It is unique yet simple. Peaceful and joyous yet focused and determined. Just like the rain falling. Just how my parents wanted. Following in their footsteps.
