They Don’t Make Music Like This Anymore
“They don’t make music like this anymore”
Music these days is a bore
Music these days holds no truth.
Sure you can play it through Bluetooth
But nothing beats the crackle of a vinyl
Where inner sleeves are a music lover's bible.
Don’t you miss the days when mtv ruled the music scene?
I know I do and I’m only sixteen.
When Simon Le Bon’s voice was unmatched
And John Taylor was a real catch.
My generation has no Rebel Yell;
No David Byrne.
Only sex to sell
Which makes my stomach churn.
What happened to the ‘good old days’?
What happened to The Lovecats and My Own Way?
They’ve been replaced by cookie cutter images
Of perfect people and skewed messages.
If men like Robert Smith were my age
They wouldn’t make it past the school stage.
Everyone has to conform
No one wants to perform.
I hope this has taken you back
To the days of the Love Shack.
If people started to look at what was hip
Then maybe we would do longer have a musical dictatorship.
The individual could rule
Without any ridicule.
