My Heart is a Birdhouse
My heart is a bird house,
 constructed of board and nails,
 housing unknown secrets
 and untold stories.

 Nailed to a tree,
I watch as the world changes,
 seasons float on ticking hands,
 while leaves fall
only to grow back fresh and vibrant.

 Within my walls
 I shelter new life,
a new voice in the world
 singing songs of dreams,
one day to break free and fly away.

My heart is a bird house.
