Changes

A grand place as we remember

Filled with laughter and joy

Counting down the minutes until we were out that door

Ran out in such a hurry

A time we played with our friends

When our worries were if you got to the kickball line on time

Small and petite as you know it now

Gossip and trouble fill the air

Rather stay in then go out

You sit by yourself now all alone

Worries about life and college

We’re not on the playground anymore

We’re not kids anymore

This prompt is the Better in memory poem. I included this one because its something that means something to me. This poem is about my childhood and how we are growing up and what it’s like nowadays. I like this poem because it shows the changes as we grow up. We used to have worries about the smallest thing but we never knew it was gonna get worse.

I fulfilled the prompt by using past and present things that have happened to me. These were things in my memory that were important to me. I chose the word playground because it was a part of my childhood. I also used the word college because it is what is in my future. Those two words go together because they contrast so well because it’s showing what life started off and how it is going to be.
