Something You Should Know
Is that saw the ocean for the first time was just two years ago.
My feet crunched
step by step
as I journeyed towards the crashing waves of salty water.
Was I scared at first?
Yes.
Of the unknown and unforeseeable future lying ahead of me.
The secrets it holds
the fear it builds in me
making me want to turn around with every step I take,
yet still not strong enough to draw me back to my safe shore.
Eventually,
with excessive amounts of encouragement,
and a loss of patients from my parents,
I made it to that ocean shore.
Still filled with undesirable doubt
I had been proven wrong
as the songs of crashing waves,
sun filled hugs,
and antys little fish
greeted me as I took my first steps onto such new province.
I know, it’s just an ocean.
Babies make those same very steps everyday
as I stood a whole thirteen years older than them all
shaking with panic
about something many consider to be a small or insignificant accomplishment.
That's the thing,
it is moments like those
standing on that beach
where I find myself resorting to find triumph through adversity
as I still
two years later
find myself on that same very beach
no matter the actual distance I may have from it,
and it is the waves of my unforgettable conquest
such as my beach journey
that continue to carry me today.

Writing this peace had really helped me go into a deeper level of thinking for making a connection and theme evident enough for the audience to interupt. This poem has helped me in many ways by primarly making me look at the bigger picture while still being able to appriciate the small victories.
