A Very Cajun Christmas
It is one Cajun Christmas Eve down in Louisiana
Every boy and girl is waiting for their presents from Santa
MawMaw serves gumbo fresh out the pot
A dash of Tabasco to make it extra hot
But before we dig in, we hear PawPaw say,
"Now it is time for us to pray."
After we eat, we gather around the tree
And everyone opens the first present they see
Smiles of joy and cheer fill the room
And then Dad says, "We have to leave soon."
Once everyone goes home and is asleep,
The children wake up to spy and sneek
They look out the window and see something bizarre
It is Santa Claus on his sleigh flying above the stars
He shouts, "Heaux, Heaux, Heaux!" for the children to hear
Then they notice, he is riding his sleigh without any reindeer
Santa's sleigh is being guided by alligators from the swamp
One of the children whispers, "Now I know exactly what I want!"
Then the children decide to go back to bed
And they have visions of beingets and powdered sugar in their heads
The morning arrives, and it is Christmas Day
Downstairs in the living room is where the presents await
One gift is wiggling and moving around
And then from the box comes a strange sound
The children open the lid with great fear
And out comes a baby alligator, and Mom says, "Oh Dear!"
