As I awoke, the aches that had

Haunted me yesterday had mostly faded

Away, the previous fever of 100 degrees

The night before had gone down to a nice 98 degrees,

the opportunity to go to school

Was there, but the tv was calling me to

Go and watch the first couple seasons 

Of spongebob, so I continue to lay in bed

With this feeling of freedom and joy, 

My mom walks in concerned if I still

Feel bad or not, I spread a little white lie and tell her

That my fever and aches are still apparent, as she walks

Out of my room and says goodbye as she leaves

For work, the thoughts of what I can do

On my half sick day are racing through my mind.
