Lady Lazarus Said #deep
Three to kill herself
She has not died
Like Lady Lazarus she survived
And three times failed
With one success
To demonize a baby’s breath
Still standing
Still hurting
Still real
Black, once ripe figs
Fall to the ground
Go to her feet
Don’t make a sound!
Don’t let them know!
Through her success, she’s dying
Blast from the past!
And now at school she watches as her classmates drool
And futile attempts to “Play it cool”
They’re hurting too
But they don’t care,
Just picture them in underwear!
That makes it funny,
Makes it better,
Cover up those scars,
Put on a sweater,
Who cares if CASSY doesn’t make it better
You have you!
That’s all you need,
If it hurts and aches through their pain and greed
It doesn’t matter, you don’t care
They’ll see your pain when
You’re not there
