A Rude Awakening
A neighborhood of Mediterranean style houses with decorations and big wrought iron doors. Nine boys were dressed in sweatpants, hoodies, and masks and wanted to raid unattended bowls of candy and food left outside the houses. Jackpot! A large house had left chips, candy, and water unattended. The boys ran towards the house and raided the entire supply. They walked back slowly while looking into their bags to see what they had. Suddenly the door opened and the boys sprint. The large group splits into three groups of three and runs in all different directions. They ran a full mile without stopping in an attempt to not get caught. Eventually, one of the groups stopped and continued going from house to house saying, “trick-or-treat!” All of a sudden, a bald adult in a bright orange jumper, rolls up on a BMX bicycle. To the boys, the man looked like an escaped prisoner and were terrified. As they moved on to the next house, the man said, "that is not cool, I am going to call the cops" in an enigmatic accent. “Go return all of the food you took from that house.” The man then asked the boys where their costumes were and they showed him the masks that they removed as while running. The boys were silent, thinking of ways to escape the situation. Passers by gave the group awkward, but curious looks. Out of fear, the boys walked a full mile back to the house, they apologized, and returned everything they took. As they returned the food, the man remained doubtful as he asked the boys, "there should be more food. Where is it?" The only response was, “there were six other people who escaped.”
