As election day draws closer and people are starting to vote, there is a change in everyone's mood. Whether it’s because of the change in social media feed, students families getting more involved, or political programs in school influencing students, there is a noticeable change. Out of all the ways people are able to get involved in elections, the one I most frequently hear about is voting.

I see stickers with American flags on them that say “I voted” start to appear on people’s cars, cellphones, or computers. This shows that people who voted view their involvement with a sense of pride.

Personally, I really do not care about voting. I would rather not get involved with politics because the only time I hear about it is when something bad the president does gets on the news or when people argue like enemies because they don’t like the same person. I think everybody in my family votes, but I’ve never asked them because it does not matter to me.

My opinion on voting and politics in general does not mean I don’t think it’s important, I would just rather not get involved. I don’t care what side of the political spectrum people are on just as long as you don’t make it your biggest personality trait. If you’re liberal or conservative, that great! Just don’t talk about it when I'm trying to enjoy my lunch or talking about a different subject.

Voting used to be a way for communities to unite and make a difference, but now things are different. I’m not sure if it’s because of the way modern media blows situations out of proportion to get people's attention so they get money or people’s opinions and views have changed on what voting should be. Either way, I don’t care enough to find out why.
