An Infinite Sight
I’m hearing people talk and feeling the sun melting me on a scorching day as I step into the cable car to heaven. My feet drag on with laziness hoping to go back to the condo to relax. I feel the car jolt upwards as I got an optimistic feeling in my stomach, my mom and siblings have an uplifting look on their faces. The sun beamed into the car as if it was an inspirational light opened my eyes that allowed me to see the breathtaking view. As I elevate closer to heaven, I see the town and culture of the city minimize. I see the infinite water and its infinite colors.
I’m attached to the front looking back as my expectations are exceeded. Others on board are attached to the windows trying to take it all in. Miles of a staggering sea, acres of the greenest grass, and a cunning city highlights the trip. The people, boats, and cars all shrink and become almost nonexistent. The utter silence and awe could make a mouse be heard, I had never felt more at peace. The sky’s electrifying blue only got brighter and closer the higher we went.
I’m still attached to the window as the car halts, we were there. The tourists line up to leave and see the infinite sight. A whirl of wind meets you and the sun beats on you, as you can see anything and everything. At that very moment, it feels as if there’s nothing you haven’t seen in the world. Miles and miles of green, an everlasting blue, and variety of colors from the busy village make the view unforgettable. I forgot about my life in that moment. My phone, my problems, my worries all flush away. When you reach heaven, there’s nothing more extraordinary.

My creative writing teacher shared the RCLA Sense of Wonder/Wild competition with our class. I was very interested to work on this piece of work with my family about our trip to Dubrovnik, Croatia. I informed my parents and siblings about the competition as they were eager to help me. We all contributed our own perspective and ideas to help recreate the magical sight from the cable car. Working with my parents and younger siblings was very unique and special because I was able to see what happened in their shoes and how different our perspectives were, it made this project one to cherish.
This project really helped my family to reconnect the astonishing nature that we all witnessed in our own way. The feeling of forgetting about electronics and worries is priceless and one we all seemed to forget after the trip. As we were making this project we all had to repaint the picture in our head and everything we saw that day which couldn’t all be included in this project.
