At the YMCA, age seven,
my friends made the team. Coached
by a dad, it was fun.
But I didn’t care.
At St. Joan of Arc, age eleven,
my classmates made the team. Coached
by my dad, dad didn’t care what I did during games
I didn’t care
Playing AAU, age twelve
Players from the Milwaukee area made the team. Coached
By Coach Fair, traveled from state to state.
But I didn’t care.
Arrowhead Basketball Club, age fourteen.
Teammates were from Merton, Swallow, Richmond, Lake Country. Coached
By Coach Meister,was always mad at something, never stopped yelling
But I didn’t care.
Now at Arrowhead High School, fifteen through eighteen
Teammates were classmates, all became close friends, Coached
By teachers at Arrowhead, practices and games were exciting.
But I didn’t care.
I play for something to do during the school year,
Doesn’t matter who coached,
Made friends from every team and some are still teammates and good friends
But I don’t care
