At the YMCA, age seven,

my friends made the team. Coached

by a dad, it was fun.

But I didn’t care.

At St. Joan of Arc, age eleven,

my classmates made the team. Coached

by my dad, dad didn’t care what I did during games

I didn’t care

Playing AAU, age twelve

Players from the Milwaukee area made the team. Coached

By Coach Fair, traveled from state to state.

But I didn’t care.

Arrowhead Basketball Club, age fourteen.

Teammates were from Merton, Swallow, Richmond, Lake Country. Coached

By Coach Meister, was always mad at something, never stopped yelling

But I didn’t care.

Now at Arrowhead High School, fifteen through eighteen

Teammates were classmates, all became close friends, Coached

By teachers at Arrowhead, practices and games were exciting.

But I didn’t care.

I play for something to do during the school year,

Doesn’t matter who coached,

Made friends from every team and some are still teammates and good friends

But I don’t care
