Anticipation...

It haunts the edges of my brain, in the instance between when I press the button, and when the song starts.

This space is forever my bridge,

from where I kiss reality goodbye.

To my own world, I traverse.

The music flows through my veins

For those precious few moments, the walls of reality drops.

Reality is a place defined by rules and roadblocks

They are a prison with our dreams serving life sentences.

But when the beat is laid and the music starts,

The lyrics fly me away to a different place Chains

I am unshackled

Pushing further into the stratosphere of my mind.

A perfect world awaits me

A new me just on the other side

I slip away from limitations

I outfox what if's

Reality's judgemental glare and admonishments prepared

But reality can wait just a little more

And the song ends...

And I play it again.
