After The Sun Goes Down And The World Goes To Sleep
After the sun goes down, the world dies a little
My friends have left and I am alone
As I drive in the darkness of the absent sun I feel numb
The flashing colors of the open signs fly past into non existence
The world is quiet
The only recurring sound is tires on pavement
Others stereos faint in the distance still make their way to my ears
I hear but do not listen
do not sing nor talk
At the light I do not look over at strangers beside me
For they don't look at me
If they did they would see nothing
Soon the person is gone along with the whispering music
The only sound is my buzzing engine
It picks up when the green pours into the car
Signaling I am closer to home
Every stop, every go, I do not think
I simply sit in my adjusted seat, perfect for me
I blink slowly and without thought
I breathe in the cold air completely void of freshness of day
My hair tangles the faster I go, signaling me to slow
As i turn onto my street i roll the windows up
I pull into the driveway and cut my lights
My sunroof is now closed and my keys are in my lap
Yet I do not leave
I sit in the confinement of my car completely isolated
I do not look at the lights in my house but instead at the garage in front of me
I sit for no reason in my perfect seat
Not a single thought enters my mind
I am calm and alone
I do not keep track of time, I cannot seem to leave
I am in my own world since the others have gone to sleep
The sound of a ring pulls me out of my trance
My mom asking where I am
I do not answer
I just grab my things and lock away my isolation with the press of a button
I walk in the mute night
the still air no longer whips my hair against my face
A porch light illuminates the silent figure that is me
I insert my key and unlock my life
Locking away my silent world

This piece sounds super depressing but it is one of my favorite moments in the day.
