Hanging On

May 23, 2019

I am on hanging on cliff’s edge

Slowly slipping off the slippery brink of insanity

You said you needed time to think about things

And I tried to be understanding.

They say if you love something set it free

But I’m just giving you months to grow without me

But all I can say is

At least I’ll wait for you

I let my mind wonder about how I got here

I fell in love with your words.

I fell in love with the feeling of your embrace.

I fell in love with an idea of you.

Why couldn’t I let go?

And just go with the flow?

I couldn’t let go of something I’ve longed for months

I was like Romeo trying to find a reason to persevere.

But all I can say is

At least I’ll wait for you

My arms are growing weak hanging onto false hope

Just give me something to help me cope.

I turn around catch a glimpse of the view behind me

I see the sun setting and hear blissful birds chirping beautiful symphonies

I look down below me and

Jump down to find that there was somewhere to land all along.

But all I can say is

At least I’ll wait for you

This bop is about waiting for someone even though it is hopeless.
