“Mischievous pirates from your shallow sea
Stole all my words, my poetry
And still you sit there quietly sipping tea”

When the silence ceased, to me you say
“It is not my fault you gave your words away”
Then you hold out your hand as if there is something I need to pay

I remain still, you become frustrated
You jump and shout “Am I not among the highest rated!
Do you love me or am I hated?”

So I speak my reply to your shouts
“Once I was a friend but now I wished to be shown the way out
But only if you promise me not to pout”

You show no regret and return to your seat
You say “I refuse to accept defeat
Tell me, Where is your heart? That’s who I’d like to meet”

“If you wish to search, head west
If you find it, it will be in a small gold chest
But do not try to find my heart; it is a fool’s quest”

You do not speak so I continue
“Sir, my heart belongs to no one. Not even you
No man, no matter how true”

“You should have locked away your words as you did your heart”
You say “And now this is when we must part”
But I know this is only where you intend to start…
