In this perturbed state of mind
Blind
Partial
Prejudiced
Absurd
She had believed it impossible
And had no reason to question
His real character
Her letter
Was incomprehensible
Now struck
forced to hesitate
How differently did everything now appear

I never knew myself
I could not have been more wretchedly blind
as I gratified my vanity
In ignorance
