Society's Rules for Women
Beauty is,
A backhanded dance.
You can put makeup on,
But it could look raunchy.
Your eyebrows are too dark,
And your cheeks are too rosy.
Is that your makeup,
Or cake on your face?
You try to dress up,
But your skirt isn’t the right length.
Your shoes aren’t even cute,
And then they just cackle.
You try to do your hair,
And it looks like a bird’s nest.
There is so much to do,
And you want to just put it all to rest.
We try our best,
But it’s never good enough.
Maybe they don’t even care,
But maybe they do.
But should I even care?
