Inevitable
Inside I always felt I wasn't
worthy of your love
I feared you'd someday realize this and
take off like a dove
To keep myself protected I put
up a barricade
And kept my feelings locked behind
where you could not invade
Then one day you decided you were
through with playing games
You left me in the dust and I'm the
only one to blame
By trying not to lose you I was
pushing you away
But I discovered this so late...
you left at my dismay
The road we take to avoid our fate
Is the place we meet it most
And it's this truth that nails our feelings
To the whipping post
This aphorism of our lives
Can be our edifice
And if you don't believe this proverb
Just ask Oedipus

While this poem appears to be about love, it is truly about fate and prophecy fulfillment.
