Say No to Breeding
They go to good homes; they won’t be misplaced
Yet the poor puppies marinate in each other’s waste
They claim breeding and puppy mills are completely humane
Yet hundreds of abused dogs are tied up on chains
When a mother, now useless, has bred all that can be bred
There are no rules protecting her from puppy bloodshed
A dog can be caged for twenty-four hours a day
and hope of seeing sunlight is so sinfully stripped away
Those innocent lives will be carelessly sold
But without shots or vaccines the pups can’t grow old
Or later in a dumpster they’ll be shivering in fright
Some may be bait dogs for a thug’s next dog fight
For a few bucks they sell dogs with their fur all in mattes
But wouldn’t getting a job be more convenient than that?
And if the dogs are never fixed, the cycle will go on
So when will the line finally be drawn?
While the federal Animal Welfare Act and breeders are to blame,
It’s time for animal lovers to say no and put their faults to shame
Don’t buy from breeders and help homeless dogs left to roam
Because there will always be shelter dogs looking for forever homes

I am a huge animal lover and supporter of adoption! This is why I wrote this poem.
