I want to talk about high school,

How some feel safer in the comfort of silence,

As they see mistakes as a sign of weakness.

There is no happiness, no laughter, and no warm feelings.

I want to talk about high school,

Plummeting kids with ugly fists

Making kids hurt more when they leave than when they enter.

I want to talk about how

When they wake up they see

Their scornful laughs,

Their hungry eyes,

Their torturous glares,

Their perfect life,

Of other “popular” students

I want to talk about the hate we feel

No one feels safe being themselves,

Always wearing a black hoodie to hide their face, stained with tears and a black eye,

Putting headphones in the ears, covering their eyes with their bangs, crossing their arms

Showing their true feelings and emotion in society.

I want to talk about the hate we feel

When we try to express our true feelings,

And  we end up hurting others,

So we blast our ears with loud music to block out the noise of other’s voices around us.

I want to talk about why we feel this way,

Why we get judged if we’re depressed, and

Why we have to be fake in front of people.

I want to talk about the way we

Hear the screeching of nails on a chalkboard,

Whenever we see your best friend betraying us.

I want to talk about who we are

If we are the people judging others,

What kind of person does that make us?

I want to talk about why we can’t trust others,

Not with personal stories,

Not with our failures or our broken hearts.

Not with our memorable glories.

Because when we are being judged, or judging others,

We put ourselves in

A place of being fake,

And soon, that “fake” turns into reality
