Let Me Break Free From Time At Last
I listen to the seconds tick past
They tell me “stay put”, so here I’ll stay
Let me break free from time at last
They say time flies by, it all goes so fast
I want to live! Deal my hand, I’m ready to play
I listen to the seconds tick past
Minutes may tease me until I feel harassed
I’ll lose many precious hours this way
Let me break free from time at last
Waiting to live, waiting to to be free, waiting to outlast
Feeling the strain every cent I must pay
I listen to the seconds tick past
In a line of nothingness, I am bored, while others stay steadfast
Years of not knowing where my cards will lay
Let me break free from time at last
I’ve put everything out there, all my lines are cast
Waiting, Waiting, Waiting with nothing else I can do or say
I listen to the seconds tick past
Let me break free from time at last

This poem is inspired by the waiting teenagers always have to deal with. Especially those who are LGBT+, because we're always just waiting for things to get better.
